Holiday Bread Pudding

This bread pudding recipe is easy to make with just a few simple ingredients.  This is one of our family’s favorite recipes and is perfect served with a big scoop of ice cream!

Bread pudding is simply cubed stale bread that is soaked in a mixture of milk, sugar, and eggs, and then baked. The result is something like the creamy middles from a stack of French toast.

What elevates bread pudding to the realm of a truly decadent dessert is the sauce. You can serve the pudding with a caramel sauce, a vanilla sauce, or a hard sauce like the one in this recipe that features bourbon whisky.

Ingredients -

  • 1 cup milk

  • 3 tablespoons melted butter

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • 2 tbsp Custard powder

  • Cashew nuts, Almond, Pistachio for garnishing

Instructions -

  • Heat cooker for 10 minutes. Cut bread in pieces.

  • In a small saucepan take butter and melt it. Now after melting take a bowl and mix milk, butter, eggs, sugar, custard powder and vanilla essence and beat well.

  • Take the tin and place bread pieces and pour mixture over bread. Garnish with cashew nuts, almonds and pistachio. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until custard is set but still a little wobbly and edges of bread have browned. Serve warm or at room temperature.
